The Counselling Process

Counselling can provide an opportunity for you to explore what is difficult in your life in a safe way. My role is to offer you a confidential and non-judgmental space to help you process unresolved, often conflicting feelings, thoughts and actions, so that you can gain deeper awareness. Working through past or current issues can support you to move forward in a way that feels right and meaningful for you as an individual.

I’m an integrative therapist drawing on different therapeutic approaches. My foundational approach is Person Centred Experiential, which means I value and seek to understand your unique experience and work with what is important to you and at your pace. I believe in your capacity for growth and to make positive changes in your life. When working with trauma I use an approach which supports safety and regulation before processing past traumas, so that the experience does not feel overwhelming or retraumatising.

My way of working integrates Parts work, Creative work, work informed by Attachment Theory, Existential therapy, Transactional Analysis and also Mindfulness and Body based Practices, informed by Neuroscience and Polyvagal Theory. These approaches provide different ways of understanding and processing experiences and working on your relationship with yourself, others and the world.

I understand that beginning therapy can feel like a daunting task and may raise a variety of emotions. I’m pleased to offer a free initial 20-minute phone session to answer any questions you have and to help you decide whether working together is right for you.

I can offer short term or long term therapy and work both face to face and remotely via video link. Sessions are 50 minutes long and cost £50.
